Dear Friends,

Two weeks ago my letter included the thought that so far the 2022 hurricane season had turned out quite well for us in Cayman. As I write now however the real possibility exists that the weather system currently called Invest 98L will pass very near or even over our Islands as a tropical storm (at the least) some time around Monday. So we shall need to complete such preparations as we may have made in perhaps a shorter time than we had supposed.

Actually, this often seems to be the way with such weather events.  Even Storm “Grace” last year turned out to affect us more severely than we had been expecting, Hurricane Gilbert, on the other hand, for those who were here, may be remembered to have somewhat changed its behaviour just before reaching us, affecting Grand Cayman less severely and, if memory serves me correctly, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman rather more than had been predicted.

Let's not be caught napping anyway.

The Collect for the Fifteenth Sunday after Trinity is

Keep, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy Church with thy perpetual mercy; and, because the frailty of man without thee cannot but fall, keep us ever by thy help from all things hurtful, and lead us to all things profitable to our salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The prayer reminds us about the realities of “the frailty of man without Thee (the Lord)” - which “cannot but fall” - and the “perpetual mercy” of the Lord, by whom the Church must always by its faith rely upon to be “kept”. As those of the Church we have the tremendous covenant privilege to ask the Lord in faith to be kept “from all things hurtful” (even in hurricane times) and to be led in every circumstance “to all things profitable to our salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

For directions about the services this Sunday the 25th September 2022, the 15th Sunday after Trinity, please see the website www.TruthWithLanguage.com .

In faith in the holy Name of our Lord Jesus, who will continue to provide guidance and joy by the Holy Spirit to all His people.
