Dear Friends in the Lord,

Because of all the things needing to be accomplished before our short plane journey to Jamaica planned for Sunday evening this weekly missive will probably be somewhat shorter. 

I want though briefly to extend the thought about public truth-telling that we were considering last week. There is a “silver lining” which is discernible in the unfolding disclosure of the unaccountability that has been demonstrated over the last two years by wealthy companies, large media agencies, and both national and international authorities. All of them have demonstrably failed to hew to the straight and narrow line of truth-telling, particularly when large sums of money have been involved. It can no longer be reasonably disputed that this failing has cost the lives of a very large number of people.

Where, then, is the “silver lining”? 

It is where once the facts of these terrible failings have been accepted by a great number of responsible people, similar questions will be asked about the processes of (what is called) science within their own areas. Much of what the public is being told so boldly about matters of biology, geology, cosmology and astronomy and even physics, not to mention psychology and sociology, is, frankly, what the guiding authorities in these various areas need the public to believe (and schoolchildren to be taught) in order for their own funding to be sustained. 

The Way, the Truth and the Life must be applied in every field, for the healing of our widespread dystopia.

The Collect for the Sunday Next before Easter - Palm Sunday - is

Almighty and everlasting God, who, of thy tender love towards mankind, hast sent thy Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ, to take upon him our flesh, and to suffer death upon the cross, that all mankind should follow the example of his great humility: Mercifully grant, that we may both follow the example of his patience, and also be made partakers of his resurrection; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The words “follow the example of” are repeated, no doubt intentionally.
